Hanoi (VNA) – Singapore and China will boost cooperation in digitalisation and sustainable development, building on existing joint projects and policy innovations, Singaporean Minister for Digital Development and Information Josephine Teo said during a visit to Chongqing, southwest China on June 2-3.
According to the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Teo made the remarks as the two countries mark the 10th anniversary of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI) this year.
She noted that Singapore and China will support their companies in seizing new opportunities in the emerging sectors of digitalisation and sustainability.
The CCI continues to be an important platform in positioning Singapore and Chongqing as twin hubs that drive deeper and broader region-to-region connectivity between Southeast Asia and Western China, Teo said.
The Singaporean ministry said Teo’s visit kicked off a series of bilateral engagements, including a connectivity, trade and finance conference, and a Chongqing culture and heritage showcase in Singapore, as well as the "Experience Singapore Week" in Chongqing.
Launched in 2015, the CCI focuses on financial services, air transportation, logistics, and information communication. It is the third intergovernmental cooperation project between China and Singapore, following the Suzhou Industrial Park in eastern China's Jiangsu province and the Tianjin Eco-city in northern China's Tianjin city./.
