- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on June 8 delivered a keynote address at the plenary session on ensuring sustainable ocean governance and finance as a main guest of the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in the Principality of Monaco.

The PM attended the forum at the invitation of Monaco Prince Albert II, as part of his trip to France for attendance at the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3). Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s working trip to France from June 7-11, his first to the European country since Vietnam and France upgraded their ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024, is expected to help deepen the bilateral relations in the new stage.
While in France, the Government leader is scheduled to attend the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 3) in Nice and hold bilateral activities. Read full story
- National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man has urged the State Audit Office of Vietnam (SAV) to promote the application of science and high technology, especially information technology and artificial intelligence, to auditing activities to create a breakthrough in audit quality and efficiency.

Addressing the SAV's 8th Party Congress, for the 2025–2030 tenure, in Hanoi on June 7, the top legislator asked the SAV to press on with building a clean, comprehensively strong, and united Party organisation. Special attention must be paid to improving the leadership capacity and combat strength of the Party organisation, promoting the vanguard and exemplary role of officials and Party members, especially leaders, and stepping up examination and monitoring to sustain the Party's discipline. - Vietnam's overseas investment surged in the first five months of 2025, reaching 317.3 million USD, a 130% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).

- The Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam) on June 6 signed an engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the O Mon 4 thermal power plant, marking a significant step in the development of the flagship gas-to-power Block B – O Mon project.
The EPC contract was signed with joint venture between the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Doosan Enerbility Co., Ltd and Vietnam’s Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company 2. Read full story
- The Minister of Construction has requested VinSpeed High-Speed Rail Investment and Development JSC and Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (Thaco) to complete documents seeking approval of their proposals to invest in the North-South high-speed railway.
The two enterprises were also urged to finalise documents for submission to the Ministry of Finance and competent sectors for investment policy approval in accordance with the Law on Investment. Read full story

- Vietnam hosted more than 9.2 million international tourists in the first five months of the year, rising by 21.3% against the same time of 2024, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT).
The majority of international visitors, 85.2%, arrived by air, underscoring aviation's role as the primary gateway to Vietnam. Land border crossings accounted for 12.9% of arrivals while sea travel made up 1.9%. Read full story
- Laos and Thailand put the final touches to their friendship bridge No.5 on June 6, marking a significant move in transport infrastructure connectivity and trade promotion within the Mekong sub-region, especially among Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.
Speaking at the ceremony, which saw the joining of final segments, Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit stressed that the bridge, upon operational, will boost trade turnover between Thailand and Laos, create a strategic logistics connection to Vietnam's Vung Ang Port, and establish a land transport link from Thailand through Laos to Vietnam and onward to China./.
