Hanoi (VNA) – The following is a list of selected news summaries reported last night by the Vietnam News Agency.

- Prime Minister emphasised that no organisations or individuals would be allowed to exploit the Party and State's preferential social housing policies for personal gain, while chairing a teleconference on June 2 to review the progress of the National Assembly’s Resolution on piloting several special policies and mechanisms for social housing development

The PM reafffirmed the Party and State’s commitment to ensuring affordable housing for all citizens, particularly the disadvantaged and vulnerable groups. Read full story

- As the institutional framework has been increasingly improved, what remains is determined and effective execution to complete the targets of 100,000 new social housing units in 2025 and 1 million units by 2030, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has emphasised.

Chairing a national teleconference on June 2 to review the implementation progress of the National Assembly’s Resolution No. 201/2025/QH15 on piloting several special policies and mechanisms for social housing development, the PM underlined the need for ministries, sectors and localities, especially their heads, to give due attention to the issue with the right level of commitment, vision, and empathy in service of the people and the nation. - For Vietnam to thrive in the new era, safe and stable policies alone are not enough, the country needs strategic and revolutionary decisions to create breakthroughs in science and technology development. This means shifting the focus of innovation onto businesses, rather than relying on or waiting for the State.

According to the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, dated December 22, 2024, on making breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation, this is considered a decisive factor in the development of nations. It is seen as a prerequisite and the best opportunity for Vietnam to become prosperous and powerful in the new era of the nation’s rise. Read full story

- The Vietnamese Government on June 1 issued a resolution on the expansion of Phu Quoc International Airport in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang to prepare for the Asia – Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Week in 2027.

The project is set to be carried out under an investment – business model in line with the Law on Investment. Read full story

- The World Bank (WB) has urged Vietnam to take urgent action to adapt to climate change, in addition to its policy recommendations to improve public investment efficiency, strengthen accountability, and enhance the legal framework.

In its latest report “Vietnam 2045 – Breaking Through Institutions for a High-Income Future,” the WB emphasises the central role of institutional reforms in ensuring sustainable growth. The bank said that to maintain rapid growth and achieve its ambitious development goal, Vietnam must deepen the sweeping institutional reforms that are underway, strengthen the legal and regulatory environment, and improve both the scale and quality of public investment. - Lang Son Geopark of Vietnam has been officially recognised as a UNESCO Global Geopark, alongside 15 others worldwide, at a special certificate presentation ceremony held in Paris on June 2.

Speaking to Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondents in France, Ambassador Nguyen Thi Van Anh, Permanent Representative of Vietnam to UNESCO, said UNESCO’s official recognition of Lang Son Geopark, located in the northern province of Lang Son, marks a significant milestone, opening up new opportunities for sustainable tourism development in the province. It also enables Lang Son to deepen its integration into the Global Geoparks Network, fostering cooperation and experience sharing in the management, conservation, and promotion of humanity’s natural heritage in service of sustainable development. - Emirates Airlines marked a new chapter in its Vietnam operations with the landing of Flight EK370 at Da Nang International Airport at 7:50pm on June 2, inaugurating a new route connecting Dubai and Da Nang via Bangkok.

The service will operate four times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, making Da Nang the third Vietnamese city served by Emirates, alongside Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, in its extensive international network. Read full story

- Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son held talks with Acting Head of the External Relations Commission of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee Bounleua Phandanouvong on 2 June as part of his official visit to Vietnam.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their delight at the robust and effective development of Vietnam–Laos cooperation across all areas. Political relations continue to be strengthened through regular exchanges of high-level delegations and meetings. Security and defence cooperation remains a key pillar, while economic collaboration has received strong attention. Bilateral trade reached 2.2 billion USD in 2024, a 33.9% increase compared to 2023, and hit 1.3 billion USD in the first four months of 2025 alone, up 109.3% year-on-year./. Read full story

Conference seeks ways to taps into OV resources to strengthen Vietnam–EU ties

PM’s visit to France hoped to deepen bilateral friendship, cooperation in new phase

Through this trip, Vietnam hopes to expand cooperation with France in emerging fields such as nuclear energy, science and technology, innovation, and artificial intelligence, in line with the Politburo’s Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation.

PM Pham Minh Chinh visits family of Vietnamese national in France

Wishing that Luan and the Vietnamese community in France will grow stronger, contributing to promoting the image of the country and Vietnamese people to international friends and promoting the role as a bridge between the two countries, the PM asked the Vietnamese Embassy to continue to well protect citizens, especially paying attention to helping overseas Vietnamese when facing difficulties and uncertainties.
