Binh Thuan (VNA) – The south-central province of Binh Thuan on March 27 launched a 50-day campaign to do away with temporary and dilapidated houses.
The province strives to complete the house construction and repair for revolution contributors by April 30 and for poor/near-poor and disadvantaged households by June 30.
Earlier, Binh Thuan identified 971 households eligible for the housing support policy, including 188 revolution contributors, 695 poor/near-poor families and 88 disadvantaged households, with a total funding needed reaching 46.7 billion VND (1.83 million USD).
According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, from August 2024 to March 26, the province supported the building and repair of houses for 498 eligible households.
Chairman of the provincial People's Committee Do Huu Huy said that so far, some localities in the province reported a modest number of completed houses. Therefore, units and localities, especially their leaders, must show higher determination in meeting the deadlines.
Secretary of the Binh Thuan provincial Party Committee and head of the provincial steering committee on eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses Nguyen Hoai Anh affirmed that following the major policy of the Party and State, over the past time, the province has drastically implemented the work and achieved positive results.
He urged coordination among agencies to solve problems, particularly those related to land during the implementation of the housing support programme. In addition, localities are encouraged to mobilise resources to aid households that are in extremely difficult circumstances./.
